Nova

We rescued Nova and her puppies in April from a homeless encampment in Dallas. She was beat up, skinny, and exhausted. Her puppies have found homes and now it’s Nova’s turn. Nova is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and on flea/tick control and heartworm preventative.

She has come a long way but still needs someone to help her live her best life. Nova needs a quieter home with no kids. She needs very slow intros with other dogs ideally calm, confident males. She loves to play ball and go on walks. She’s very treat motivated and has learned some basic commands. She’s crate trained and knows how to use a doggy door.

We have no idea what Nova went through before we found her but I know her experiences have left her fearful of people and new situations. She’s “protective” of her space and of me and therefore needs an experienced dog owner who knows how to handle her insecurities. She’s a very sweet little dog who is learning what living with people is all about.

I pray her owner is out there somewhere. She deserves someone who will be patient enough to help her overcome whatever she went through before we found her. It sounds like finding a needle in a haystack or a “unicorn”, but I won’t give up on her.  If you’d like to meet her or learn more about her please email me at tjwuensche68@gmail.com.

Shadow

Shadow (~6 year old neutered male, dog friendly)

Hi friends! My name is Shadow, I was originally rescued from an amazing organization in California, but my adopters moved to Colorado and now need to rehome me. Without any connections here, the rescue reached out to one of our team members, who actually adopted one of her pups from them a couple years back. While I'm not an official Hwy 50 pup, the girls here couldn't say to no to at least sharing my information and trying their best to find me a new home. I was originally saved from a hoarding case, where I lived with 30 other dogs, and shared a kennel with 2 other dogs :( Even with the difficult beginning to my life, I have overcome so much and am just a super sweet, people-loving kind of guy! I do take a minute to warm up to men, but I absolutely LOVE women- I'm quite the charmer if I do say so myself! The only thing I really don't like is the crate. Given my history, that's not too surprising, and I promise I'm a really good boy outside of one, I just get so scared being in a crate again. Through no fault of my own, my adopters now need to find a new home for me, as tensions are growing high between my adopter and their roommate about my care. I just need a home where I can get all the love, attention and little things I need to feel safe. Can you please help me find that special place??
